* American Chopper *
As I have discussed before, I don't watch most television
shows, as I just don't find them interesting. One show that has maintained
my attention is American Chopper, and I know exactly why.
The show is about a company called Orange County Choppers
that builds custom motorcycles for both personal use and for companies to
use for promotions. I caught this show on the Discovery channel a few years
ago, and to this day, I still watch reruns. American Chopper 'stars' Paul
Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr. (aka Paulie), as well as Michael Teutul (aka
Mikey), and each episode follows them building primarily choppers from
scratch (literally starting with just a frame). I have spent a lot of time
working on motorcycles as well as rebuilding a couple that I have since
sold, and I still find it intriguing to watch as they build these choppers
and how quickly they can get design figured out, get everything put
together, tear it down, get it painted, put it back together, and test ride
it typically in approximately 2 weeks. The concepts that they introduce are
awe-inspiring, and have helped given me many ideas on what I want to do
whenever I work on a motorcycle. The show also has quite a bit of humor, as
they like to mess with each other as well play pranks on each other. There
are also times where you bear witness to Paul Sr. getting upset, and man
alive, can he intimidate most people. American Chopper also does a lot of
charity work, often spending time with the elderly, and they've even build a
custom 'sleigh' and delivered presents to kids whose parent's can't afford
to buy them gifts.
American Chopper has managed to catch and keep my attention.
I know this is because it combines some seriousness, some humor, a lot of
great ideas, and passion for motorcycles (which I also feel greatly). I have
to admit, I'm genuinely a big fan of American Chopper, which has been one of
the few television shows that I will consistently watch whenever it's
on...and that's saying a lot!

an opinion based on personal experiences, and is intended to inform based on
those experiences.
