* Classic Christmas Movies *

Tis the season. Candy canes, Christmas carols, and presents are pretty good indicators that it's getting close to Christmas, but the main indicator is turning on a television and finding nothing but classic Christmas movies on.

When I was growing up, I always seemed to look forward to seeing classic Christmas movies popping up on TV, knowing that soon I would be opening presents and getting all the 'latest and greatest' toys I wanted. I would watch Ralphie get told "You'll shoot your eye out, kid". I would hear a bell ringing and knew that an angel was getting their wings. I would watch Clark W. Griswold try and catch a squirrel that came out after he cut a tree out of his yard because his other tree burnt down. It just seems ever since "Home Alone" came to be considered a classic Christmas movie, I have grown indifferent to all of them.

Nowadays, when I see a classic Christmas movie pop onto TV, I just change the channel. Perhaps it's 30 years of exposure to them all. Perhaps it's having only been with my family at Christmas 2 of the last 10 years and I'm bitter with the season. If I want any kind of reminder of a classic Christmas movie, I can go out and buy a replica of Charlie Brown's sad little tree for under $15. Bah Humbug!
