What's the one gift that can cause a problem between men and women? Lingerie. I don't fully know what it is about lingerie as a gift, but for some couples, this can be the root of more fights than most other gifts.

 

 

Ok, so some of the problems are with the guys end of things. A lot of men are clueless about buying lingerie to give as a gift, but there are some things men can keep in mind to try to make it a slightly better experience. First, it's 1000 times easier to buy lingerie when you know your ladies size. A trick you can use is to check through a couple of her undergarments and get the sizes. You may think you know, but you may be wrong, and if you buy her something that is too large, you will more than likely hear "Do you think I'm this big?" (my head hurts already at the thought of hearing something like this). Another thing to bear in mind is that your idea of what lingerie she wants to wear might not be the same as yours. If you want to buy her lingerie as a gift, take note beforehand whether she even wears or has worn something like what you plan to buy her... if she sighs heavily or makes snide comments whenever a Victoria's Secret commercial comes on, you probably aren't going to have much luck with her appreciating you buying her lingerie. One last little trick for guys is talking to a clerk at a lingerie store. I know a lot of guys are scared to step foot in a lingerie store like Victoria's Secret or Fredericks of Hollywood, but you really aren't as much a fish out of water as you may think. If you go in armed with your ladies sizes and know what kind of lingerie she typically wears, a clerk can help you find something that will keep you from having to return the day after in order to return what you bought. The clerks don't really think you're a pervert, they are there to help and to make money, and they usually think higher of you for asking instead of just hurriedly grabbing a couple things and returning in a few days with a wife or girlfriend that is ticked off.

 

 

Women, you also need to have a little more understanding about guys buying you lingerie as a gift. We men aren't trying to make you feel fat or ugly, but a lot of us don't know what we're doing when it comes to lingerie. We honestly have good intentions. One way to think of it is like this: when we buy you lingerie as a gift, it's like buying wax for our car... your 'paint' may be terrific, but sometimes we just want to see that paint 'shine' just a little more. If women can't be more understanding about this, then they shouldn't walk around wondering why we would trade in our 'car' for a new 'model'.
