* Vice Squad *

I admit, when it comes to television shows, I get bored easily. Lost lives up to it's name for me. Reality shows mainly just serve to really agitate me. Imagine my surprise when, while channel surfing, I stumbled upon a reality show that actually got AND maintained my attention. I happened across a television show called Vice Squad.

Vice Squad is a show that follows the real life vice squads around the United States. The show is filmed in various cities, and, just like when they are doing their duties, many members of the vice squads wear masks and use fake names. The show is very much in the same style as the television show Cops, with the main difference being that Vice Squad aren't going after all around crime.. they are more specialized going after crimes involving prostitution and narcotics. I've spent time around members of various crime-fighting units such as D.E.A., county and state police, and F.B.I., and chatting with them still doesn't give you a full grasp of what they go through. Now, with the television show Vice Squad, I've been able to gain a better understanding of what they do and some of the things they have to go through. Over the last 20 years, I've watched the television show Cops, and since I've remained a fan and held a great interest in it, it seemed natural to want to watch another reality show featuring law enforcement. Vice Squad shows the 'background' of what happens with narcotics stings, raids, prostitution busts, and several other crimes that normally the general public never gets to see (unless they happen to be on the opposite end of things).

I don't fully know what the draw is, but I do know there is one. Vice Squad for me is like a car accident is to many people... the one's involved are thinking about other things, but the people that go past and witness it are usually the one's that can't help but look. I feel that Vice Squad gives me some entertainment, albeit at some other person's expense. Vice Squad is literally like the television show Cops but on crack... it can be very fast-paced, it's reality, and it can be downright scary to think how stupid some of the criminals are. Vice Squad is now one of the few television shows I actually watch, and it's one of only a couple reality shows I care to see. You can keep your Lost, your Survivor, and your Bachelor. I'd rather spend my time watching someone getting busted, thanks to Vice Squad.
